subject areas

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) of Inquiry organizes what we aim for students in Early Years, Lower Primary Years, and Upper Primary Years to learn. Units are organized by transdisciplinary themes, four in Early Years, and six from Grades 1 through Grade 6.

The following PYP transdisciplinary themes provide the basis for student acquisition of knowledge, understanding, and skills through Units of Inquiry. Units are transdisciplinary and special subjects, i.e. Filipino, Music, Physical Education, Bible, Chinese, Arts, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) may also be linked to them wholly or in part, throughout the year, or may provide students with independent stand-alone learning engagements to develop skills and content knowledge in these specific subjects.

Otherwise, knowledge, understanding, and skills related to Literacy, Science, Social Studies, and Numeracy are developed within the context of a transdisciplinary unit (Unit of Inquiry).

  1. EARLY YEARS

PREnursery, nursery, and kindergarten

The MGCNLCA Early Years Program offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum tailored to the unique readiness of each child’s age group. This academic program seamlessly integrates Bible truths into the students’ learning journey while implementing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). Our approach emphasizes play-based and inquiry-basead learning, where discovery and hands-on activities are central to the educational experience.

We provide quality instruction across various disciplines, including the Unit of Inquiry (Literacy, Numeracy, Science, and Social Studies), Chinese, Art, Music and Movement, and Bible education. Each subject is taught through an inquiry-based and play-based approach that aligns with the IB philosophy, encouraging students to explore, ask questions, and develop a deep understanding of the world around them. This holistic approach ensures that students not only gain academic knowledge but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for lifelong learning.

2. lower and upper primary years

Grade 1 to Grade 6

MGCNLCA Lower Primary Years Program and Upper Primary Years Program offer high-quality instruction in Christian Education (GMRC/VALUES/Bible Class and Cell Group), Unit of Inquiry (Literacy, Numeracy, Science, and Social Studies), Chinese Language, Filipino, Art, Music, and Physical Education. Additionally, we also offer Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) to our Upper Primary Years learners (Grade 4 to Grade 6)

Extra-curricular activities such as clubs and varsity in basketball, volleyball, swimming, chess, football, table tennis, badminton, and school choir are incorporated to make learning more holistic.
